I went to the Marine Science Institute in Redwood city. I had a great time there. I looked at fish and petted fish. I even caught fish let me tell you all about it.
I had to get up at six in the morning to go to the bus at school. Then we had to get on the bus and go to the Marine place. It took about one hour and one half to get there.
When we got there we got off of the bus and ate a snack. Then the lady called us in a room to sit down. They taught us a lot of stuff about the San Francisco Bay. She said the San Francisco Bay is Where the animals like the leopard sharks have baby's.
Then we went out and caught fish. We caught a bunch of little fish called anchovies. After we caught the fish the lady flipped over the net and brought all of us a fish. When they gave us the fish we had to cup our hands so that the fish would not jump out of our hands on to the ground.
Then we went into this room with a bunch of tanks. First we went to the biggest tank with a bunch of leopard sharks and bat rays. They tagged the leopard sharks but not the bat rays because it would not be necessary they said.
Then we went out and caught some plankton. To catch to plankton you have to get a net and put it in the water and drag it. After we caught the plankton they put it in a tube thing then they put the microscope over the tube then we look at plankton.
Then we ate our lunches got on the bus and went back to the bus put our seat belts on and went back to the school.
I had a great time at the institute. It was so much fun. I hope I can go to the institute once or twice more in my life. I loved going on the field trip!
