I hiked Half Dome. I got up at 5:30 in the morning and road my bike up to where we start. It isn’t that far to go there.
First we hiked Vernal Falls. Vernal Falls isn’t that hard to hike. It is a little bit steep walking up. When you are done with the steep part there is a bridge. At the bridge there is a bathroom, and a water fountain. After the bridge you have to walk up the steep part again. And then finally you get to the top.
After Vernal Falls it is Nevada Falls. It isn’t very steep when you are climbing up Nevada Falls. When you are going to Nevada Falls you have to climb over rocks. I love climbing over rocks.
After Nevada Falls there is a really flat part. It goes on for like a mile. Then after the flat part it goes up again. When it goes up there are not many more rocks to climb on. Then it is torcher after the tiny steep part.
Then you have to climb up this big rock it is really steep. There are these high stares that you have to climb. They are sort of steep. And then finally you get to the top. When you are at the top of the big rock you are at the cables.
The cables are the steepest part of the whole hike. I sat on top of the big rock thinking if I should go up the cables. I almost chickened out. Finally I went up the cables. This guy helped me go up the cables. I had a harness on. With the harness I had a carabineer with it. I hooked the carabineer into the guys back pack. When we got to the top of the cables we were on top of Half Dome! I was in shock that I made it. I got sick on the top.
The way back down wasn’t that scary. A guy helped me on the way down to. It takes about 15 minutes to get down. When we got of the cables we had to go of the big rock again. It only took like 5 minutes down the big rock. When we got of the big rock we went through the forest. When we got through the forest we went swimming. We went swimming to cool our selves of. After we went swimming we had to get back on the trail. Then finally we got down. When we got down we had to get on our bikes.I really want to go again I just don’t want to get sick.
